The true story of this book was so well written that I forgot it was a non-fiction book. The way Jo wrote brought the characters to life. She managed to bring us into the refugee camps, into their home in the US, into their school that treated them like criminals, and into the courtroom.But it's not just a story. Jo brought in statistics and the historical backstory that revealed her skill as an investigative journalist. She showed us statistics about poverty, data about refugees, the history of Lancaster, the history of each of the major players in this true story.It's a moving story of challenge, hope in humanity, and the right to a better life. Thank you, Jo, for writing this book! My heart expanded two sizes.
